Diocesan Youth and Young Adults Development Officer

We are a vibrant, growing, missional diocese and one of the two largest in the Church of Ireland. 

The diocese oversees 111 church communities spread across inner-city and suburban South and East Belfast, cities (Bangor and Newry) and towns, as well as rural and coastal communities in County Down and part of County Armagh within Northern Ireland. 

Since 2013, the diocese has planted 10 new worshipping communities that seek to share the gospel and make new disciples in difficult-to-reach communities and encourage believers on their faith journey. 

Down and Dromore is led by Bishop David McClay who has set out the diocesan priorities of Leadership, Discipleship and Apostleship - to make new disciples and enable all to grow in faith; to raise up new leaders from every background and to speak biblical truth and show Christ’s love in our communities. 

The Diocese provides support to its church leaders through an ‘Area Deanery’ system, by personal contact from the Bishop and access to counselling services. Newly qualified curates participate in a ‘Continuing Ministerial Education’ programme throughout the year. Leaders of Church Plants and Rejuvenation Initiatives are supported through monthly Pioneer Ministry Leaders Days. Clergy are supported through Ministry Leaders’ days on alternate months and annual Clergy Conferences. 

The Diocesan Staff Team provides administrative support, support for children's youth and young adult ministry and a wide variety of training programmes for lay persons.
