1 Outline Requirement:

To preach an active Christian faith to people in our church, and to promote activities that attract others from outside.

To provide pastoral care to everyone associated with the church.

The job holder will be ultimately responsible to the Church Members’ Meeting.

Carey is a bible-based evangelical church in the centre of Preston. We are part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. Our mission is ‘Serving Jesus, Serving Preston’. We have 40 full members and a congregation of about 60 on Sunday mornings from a wide range of ages, nations, educations and incomes. There are 15 Youth and 15 Children in regular attendance. We have extensive buildings and run a Registered Day Nursery (rated ‘Good‘ by OFSTED) and attended by over 40 children every week. A detailed church profile is available on request. 2 Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties. Key area: to develop a living Christian faith in all attendees of our church, and to reach out to others.

To be a role model and to develop the faith and vision of the existing church congregation.

To provide preaching and personal Christ-Centred pastoral care and encouragement to all associated with the church.

To work with the Deacons to develop activities that attract new people and families to faith in Jesus.

To oversee the management of the whole church programme, especially in Worship, Sunday School, Bible Studies, Messy Church, and Nursery

To pursue ongoing spiritual development for self and church helpers.

To foster links and be the link person with other relevant churches, local organisations, schools and statutory bodies.

To oversee the Carey Safeguarding Policy and the recruitment and training of church helpers.

The post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be a practising Christian under part 1 of schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
