About Us

Bury Christian Fellowship has a history as an active local church rooted in the local community. Following a challenging period, our dedicated but ageing congregation is keen to move forward with God. We are eager to grow again by reaching people with the gospel and are investing in this as a priority. We need a passionate, visionary leader to help us embrace this opportunity for renewal.

Our Vision

With your leadership, we aim to revitalise Bury Christian Fellowship over the next three years—growing our numbers through the gospel and addressing local needs. Our hope is that this growth will provide ongoing funding to sustain this role and expand our impact into the future.

Purpose: The chance to transform lives, rebuild a vibrant church family, and serve in a supportive Christian community.

The Role

As part of our leadership team, you will:

·         Develop and oversee an effective missional strategy.

·         Equip and inspire our church family to share the gospel with confidence and creativity.

·         Lead outreach initiatives to grow our congregation aiming to increase regular attendance and establish a pipeline for discipleship.

·         Provide appropriate support and oversight of those involved in outreach activites.

·         Work collaboratively with our eldership team, meeting regularly to organise and oversee activities, engaging the committed church membership to help grow the church

·         Undertake and manage such administrative duties as are consistent with the role.

·         Invest and engage in relationships with others working missionally within churches in Bury.

·         Provide regular updates on your progress to the leadership team.

·         With demonstrated success (e.g., consistent growth in attendance and engagement over two years), moving into a leadership role, potentially overseeing the eldership team and shaping the long-term direction of the church.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

- Is a committed evangelical, charismatic Christian.

- Has a proven track record of growing a church through evangelism (e.g., boosting visitor attendance each quarter and seeing new believers baptised annually).

- Brings energy, innovation, resilience and excellent people skills to connect with Bury’s diverse community, from young families to retirees.

- Can teach, organise, and motivate others effectively with strong communication and leadership abilities.

- Supplies references from their current church leader and an employer.

What We Offer

Salary: £35,000 per annum, with a pension scheme.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week over 5 days, including some evenings and Sundays, with 2 rest days (to be agreed) and flexibility to support a healthy work-life balance.

Holidays: 30 days annually, plus 8 Bank Holidays (or time off in lieu).

Growth Opportunities: Access to funded training and development, including attendance at events like evangelism conferences, plus leadership coaching as the role evolves.

Contract: 3 years, subject to a 6-month probation period, with the goal of renewal as the church grows.
