Assistant Pastor

We're looking for a passionate evangelist to join us as Assistant Pastor. 

This is a two-year training role, with possibility for a third, for someone recently finished formal theological training and ready to grow in ministry leadership alongside an experienced pastoral team. 

Rather than being tied to one ministry area, you'll rotate through different areas of church life, taking real responsibility for specific ministries and projects while getting regular training, mentoring and feedback along the way, with plenty of scope to develop your gifts in evangelism, discipleship, preaching, ministry strategy, team leadership and pastoral care.

City Church was planted in September 2014 to reach those who live, work and study in Manchester with the good news of Jesus, and by God's grace we've grown from a launch team of 27 adults and five children into a vibrant, diverse church of more than 400 adults and 80 children, representing 47 different nationalities. Training and sending leaders is at the heart of what we do: over the past twelve years we've sent 15 people into vocational ministry and trained 41 interns, and church planting matters just as much to us, with a second direct church plant coming in 2027 and five further churches helped along the way since our launch.

Manchester is one of the UK's fastest growing and most diverse cities, with a large student and young adult population, so we're hoping to find someone with a genuine heart for evangelism, both sharing the gospel personally and helping build a real evangelistic culture across the church. You'll play a key part in helping City Church grow in its vision, strategy and practice for reaching this generation.
